Accurate shooting incident reconstruction is one of the most powerful ways to uncover the truth behind ballistic events. In this hands-on workshop, Adam Gonzalez guides participants through the full process of documenting, analyzing, and visualizing a mock shooting scene using 3D laser scanning technology and FARO Zone 3D Expert software.
The session begins at the scene, where attendees will scan a realistic shooting scenario to capture all measurable details, including bullet defects and projectile impacts. Participants will then work through the complete digital workflow—from point cloud registration to trajectory analysis—answering critical forensic questions such as: Where was the muzzle of the firearm when each bullet was discharged? What can the evidence reveal about shooter position & height, at the time of fire?
No prior expertise in shooting reconstruction is required. This workshop is designed for both novice crime scene investigators and experienced reconstructionists, demonstrating how accurate documentation in the field ensures high-quality data for expert analysis later. The final segment focuses on producing visually compelling, scientifically supported courtroom exhibits and trajectory reports from the software that communicate complex findings with clarity and credibility.
