Brian Harvin

Field Application Engineer

Brian Harvin is a retired Special Agent Senior with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation.  With thirty-five years of law enforcement experience, Harvin specialized in crime scene processing and investigation.  Not only was Harvin responsible for educating other employees and agencies with crime scene equipment and procedure, he partnered with the Alabama Community College System as an assistant instructor in Crime Scene Processing and Evidence Collection, Crime Scene Photography, and Latent Print Recovery.  He is now a Field Application Engineer with FARO Technologies in Public Safety Analytics, where he trains, instructs, certifies, and supports public safety personnel across the United States in the use of 3D laser scanning technology, drone photogrammetry, and software to document crash, crime, and fire scenes.


Harvin is a former National Liquor Law Enforcement Agent of the Year recipient and is a summa cum laude graduate of Jacksonville State University.  He was an honor graduate of the Heath Services Technician school while serving in the United States Coast Guard Reserve and has deployed both in country and out of country while assigned to the Port Security Unit in Gulfport, MS.  As a member of the Coast Guard’s Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TC3) training team, he prepared over 650 Coast Guard active-duty personnel for deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  This team delivered high quality performance-based training curriculum, which was the first of its kind in the Coast Guard.
