Infinite Possibilities for Defining a Limited Universe: Creating Immersive and Scientifically Valid 3D Exhibits (Part 1 of 2)

Workshop (4 hours)

Part 1 of 2

Modern forensic investigations increasingly demand that complex, multi-location, multi-source evidence be organized into a coherent, defensible spatial narrative. This full-day workshop -led by credentialed forensic-mapping and video analysis experts - seeks to provide practitioners with a comprehensive framework for doing exactly that.

The workshop will introduce participants to the advantages of integrating properly geodetically controlled measurements with high-quality 3D scene capture and video-based reconstructions. Through detailed instruction and guided case-based exercises, attendees will learn how to fuse data from terrestrial total stations, GNSS RTK rovers, terrestrial 3D scanners, UAV aerial photogrammetry, and ground-based photogrammetry into a unified, spatially accurate environment. Emphasis is placed on geodetic control - leveraging city, county, state, and federal GIS data to extend local high-accuracy measurements across large-scale incidents without the need for costly and impractical full-city scanning.
