Ragnar Jónsson

Ragnar is a detective chief inspector with the Reykjavík Metropolitan police, forensic and crime scene service. Ragnar has served as a policeman and a detective for thirty three years and has been with the forensic and crime scene service since June 2001.


Ragnar first got introduced to BPA at IPTM, Jacksonville in 2001 during Injury and death investigation course. Ragnar studied basic and advanced courses at the Bloodstain Institute in Corning, NY state, 2002 and HCL Institute of Forensic Science, University of New Haven, 2007. Ragnar has been a member of the Nordic (Scandinavia) BPA group since 2004 and is currently it´s chairman. Ragnar is also a member of the Icelandic DVI team since 2014 and is registered as an expert at Cepol, European Police College since 2015.
