Many attorneys think of 3d animation as a nice “extra” for trial: pretty pictures to help convince a jury to believe their narrative. In fact, the real value of scene reconstruction work is unlocked at the beginning of a case when it can be used to provide a visual framework for interpreting details, evaluating witness accounts, and discussing case strategy. When opposing parties get a preview of exhibits that could be shown at trial, it becomes easier to reach a common understanding on key issues and negotiate a settlement. This 55 minute presentation profiles three cases that never went to trial, and how a reconstructed scene helped support that outcome.
