EToomer, i agree with your statements regarding the necessity of 3D Reconstructions and Animations, we do not live in a 2 dimensional world, so why would we present it as such? The court acceptance is a funny subject, often I hear people object to 3D with "its not accepted in court", but usually this is just fear of presenting something new instead of doing the same old same old. I think we can all agree that the closer a recreation is to real life, the easier it would be to follow, and the more accurate it will be as well.
The NCIS is a large agency though, and I am sure you guys stay at the forefront of the industrys technology. I got into the game in the late 90's early 2000 when most Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists were still doing things by hand. Just to give me a better understanding…..do you have specific "Crime Scene Reconstructionists" or do your Detectives and Agents do thier own diagramming and animations? You mention Forensic Graphics Artists, do they just do the animation based on evidence provided to them by someone else?
What is the basic procedure for a Crime Scene to be investigated and reconstructed for court?
